Mirjam Koornneef

CEO
In a world where diversity and inclusion are becoming increasingly important, Mirjam Koornneef stands out as a practical bridge-builder, speaking not only from theory but especially from her rich experience "with her feet in the mud." In her inspiring lecture, Mirjam takes us on a journey through the reality of people with hearing or visual impairments, and the surprising insights she offers can fundamentally change our perspective on work and society.
Where to start?
Mirjam begins her story with a powerful opening that makes inclusion immediately tangible for the audience. This moment serves as a bridge to the realization that in the Netherlands alone, millions of people with disabilities live, many of whom are unnecessarily sidelined in the job market. She introduces us to the harsh reality: a significant portion of people with disabilities are unemployed, not because of a lack of talent, but due to a lack of inclusive opportunities.

In practice
Yet, Mirjam's message is one of hope and action. She reveals how diversity and inclusion are not only morally right, but also demonstrably lead to higher revenues, more innovation, and greater satisfaction in the workplace. With compelling data and personal stories, she illustrates how inclusive practices such as fair recruitment and adapted work processes truly make a difference.
Engaged
Her personal commitment is underscored by the development of inclusive projects such as city tours led by guides with disabilities. Awareness of inclusion starts with our children, which is why Mirjam created a children's book about diversity. These initiatives demonstrate that change begins with awareness and education from an early age.
The challenge
Mirjam challenges her audience to look beyond traditional quotas and percentages and truly consider what inclusion means. She urges us to recognize the unique value that people with disabilities can bring to the workplace and to act from a deeper motivation than merely meeting standards.
The chances
In this call to action, Mirjam emphasizes that true inclusion begins with individual choices and actions. She invites her audience to seize the opportunities that inclusivity offers, not just as a moral obligation but as a strategic advantage. With a blend of personal anecdotes, hard facts, and inspiring examples, Mirjam makes it clear that everyone has the power to create a more inclusive world. Her message is clear: dare to look differently, dare to act, and discover the untapped possibilities that inclusivity brings.

Marloes de Bloeme

COO
Creating an inclusive work environment gives me a lot of energy and satisfaction. We are all different, and this makes a team colorful and inspiring. However, it also brings challenges. By looking honestly at the differences and what connects a team, a strong foundation is created. This way, we work together to build an inspiring workplace where people can truly thrive.
I would like to explain more about my personal motivation. For 17 years, I worked with great love and pleasure at the Sophia Children's Hospital. Due to my visual impairment, I could no longer perform my role as a medical assistant to my own satisfaction. I began looking for a new challenge where I could utilize my skills. I found this challenge in the training to become an integral vitality coach and trainer. The journey was tough. On one hand, there was my own challenge with my visual impairment, but the reactions from those around me also created several obstacles. Fortunately, I possess a strong dose of resilience and humor. I can now fully use these qualities to inspire others and help them recognize where their strengths lie.

Marian Bommeljé

Recruiter
Marian believes it is very important that everyone, with or without a disability, has the same opportunity to find a suitable job and earn an income. "This is where I can make a real contribution, as I don't let my vision distract me when selecting candidates. Instead, I focus on listening attentively and being alert to the qualities someone possesses. I have personally experienced that when given the chance to show what you can do, a disability is no longer a problem. That’s why I prefer to think in terms of solutions rather than limitations."

Recruiter
I am Marianne Ros and work as a recruiter at Equal Recruitment to give everyone an equal opportunity for meaningful and suitable work. I love adventure and challenges, alongside my guide dog, Miru.
I am Miru, and I help my owner, Marianne, navigate safely through traffic. But that’s not always easy for me. I also love to sniff around and enjoy attention.

Thirza Domée

Graphic Designer
Creativity is one of my biggest passions. That's why I am (almost) always working on something creative. Whether it's for work or for myself, I am mostly involved in various artistic or creative projects. I primarily work as a Graphic Designer, but I am also open to other types of tasks. For those who know me well, I am known as many things: a bookworm, a game nerd, an art lover, an artist, or a wolf fan.
I believe it is extremely important that everyone deserves a chance to find a job that suits them, regardless of where they come from, what their name is, or what their limitations may be. I know very well how it feels to search for a job for a long time without any good results. I also think it is crucial that more people with disabilities get a fair chance to find meaningful and enjoyable work. I believe that diversity in the workplace only strengthens the team!

Jeroen Zimmerman

Executive Secretary
Clear communication is essential to me. It doesn't really matter whether you're chatting with the local baker or having a conversation with the director; as long as you get to the core of your message, you've succeeded! Don't write your letters or emails with the goal of outdoing Harry Mulisch. As long as employees stay true to themselves, you'll find that no static will occur. Openness from both sides ensures that we find a match that will last and can withstand this changing market.
In my role, I enjoy taking the initiative to reach out to people. What particularly appeals to me about Equal Recruitment is the focus on a target group that has faced some challenges but doesn't give up. I find that incredibly inspiring, and it gives me an extra boost to create connections between employees and employers. I am 100% convinced that in every situation, the solution is within reach.
